Kick Starting Your Loss of Motivation

When we lose motivation to be productive, the symptoms manifest in the form of:

  • A decreased interest in normally pleasurable activities
  • Fatigue
  • Problems concentrating
  • Poor sleeping habits
  • Inconsistent appetite

Fortunately, a lack of motivation can be overcome if you're willing to dedicate yourself. Some tactics have shown tremendous promise concerning the fight against a negative state of mind.

Some of these tactics include:

  1. Creating Goals – For those who deal with a lack of motivation, the problem can sometimes stem from not having a goal to strive towards. The absence of a clear objective makes it hard to find meaning in anything you do, because it sometimes feels as if there is no purpose in the activity or interest you are pursuing. The creation of goals, with the inclusion of benchmarks you hope to reach, could provide the meaning needed to help you find your way out of the darkness.

  2. Be Realistic – Being realistic, concerning your goals and what you hope to attain by completing them, could help level your expectations and prevent extreme disappointment when the results or reactions of your efforts aren't up to standard.

  3. Reevaluate your Motivation – Sometimes our intentions don't fill that void inside. The reasons may be because our ambitions lack the challenges needed to keep us motivated to continue down that direction, or our motivations feel empty in the sense that we're chasing material possessions as opposed to our passion. Reevaluating your motivation could provide the clarity you need to refocus your life and push you down a path that leads to true fulfillment.

The key to overcoming the loss of motivation is by reconditioning the way you process information.
