Five Tips to Help Physical Therapists Market Their Business

Posted by Brian Spence on Jan 26, 2018 8:00:00 AM

Physical TherapistPhysical therapists are the first line of defense to rehabilitate patients from minor aches, muscle damage, and significant injuries. There are skilled, physical therapists that can help their patients recover, but the community doesn't know about their business.

Raintree Incorporated, a healthcare products company, has five essential tips that can help physical therapists market their business to potential customers.

Get a Google My Business Page and Bing Places for Businesses Page.

  • Physical therapy business owners need to update their online citations. They should also claim their official listing. Most customers check the internet, first, to find local businesses. Having accurate listings is key since it will improve your local Search Engine Optimization (SEO) marketing and your standing in Google's Local Pack. It will help to attract new customers to your business in your hometown.

  • To claim your listing, visit Google My Business Page and Bing Places for Business, then fill out the form. The information should be identical across several site platforms.

  • Make sure that you have filled out your physical therapy business name, address, and phone number (NAP). You should also list your contact hours and physical address.

  • Google and Bing will send you a PIN number on a card to your web address to manage your online reputation. If you are using a marketing company, you can use them as a manager. If you break ties with their company, you will retain full control of your GMB and BPB Pages.

Manage your online reputation: Ask for patient reviews.

  • Ninety percent of customers say online reviews influenced their decision to patronize a business or purchase a product.

  • Ask your physical therapy patients to review your services and provide testimonials. Studies found that more than seven out of ten people will review your business if you request one.

  • Google takes into account local reviews in its metrics. Good reviews can boost your ranking in the search engine's Google Local Pack. Companies that consistently receive positive rankings from their customers are positioned higher, while those that receive fewer (or negative) rankings are placed lower in the search engine's Local Pack results.

Start a business blog.

  • Blogging will position you as an expert in your community. It will also demonstrate your physical therapy knowledge. Your articles can also help market your business to customers.

  • If you post daily, Google's metrics will indicate that you frequently update your site. This will draw customers.

Introduce yourself to the community at local events.

  • Although developing your online marketing strategy is crucial, you will also need to make personal connections with customers in your community. Physical therapists should attend local events and conferences where you can meet potential clients face to face.

  • Customers want a to have a personal connection with business owners. They love companies that have a heart.

Audit your site to make sure it's mobile ready.

  • Google has switched over to a Mobile-first Index which means it will catalog websites that are primarily geared toward mobile users.

  • To benefit from this you will need to audit your website. Make sure all the information on your site is identical on both your mobile and desktop websites. Also, check that all links are functioning properly.

  • Update your social media contacts. Also, add your official website to all social media platforms that you own.

  • Your site should also be quick loading and optimized smaller devices. If your site is slow loading with heavy images, autoplay features, and pop-ups, it will slow down your website. Since Google is favoring mobile-friendly websites that are quick-loading, your page could drop in Google's rankings.
