Don't Worry, Be Happy. Or so the song tells us, but that is easier said than done. Sometimes circumstances seem to keep us in a rut, or an unsatisfying job, a toxic relationship, a worrisome legal situation, etc. etc. etc. You can feel like a prisoner of your environment, unable to make things different, make a move, or get away. And it might be true for the moment that there are things you don't have control over. But there is one thing you do have control over; that is the way you think. You may not be able to change your circumstances, but you can change your mindset.
It's a Process
If we could snap our fingers and make things different instantly, the world would be a very different place. But reality will intrude on our best daydreams. Changing your mindset is not as easy as changing your outfit, but it is a lot easier than you might believe. One advantage you have is that no one else operates your free will. There is no such thing as the thought police. You get to decide what goes on inside your head. Make the effort to change what you think about and soon your attitude and mindset will have a new shape. Negativity is a waste of time. What other people do or think or have or say is out of your control. Don't allow others to live in your head rent-free. Concentrate on what is good, and especially what is good for you. Start today; make it a habit to focus on the things that benefit you, your well-being and your future.
Articulate a Goal
Everything you see in this world that didn't grow naturally, a house, a car, a bridge, a business was once just the seed of an idea. Your ideas are just as valid as any of those. Take stock of what you have and turn it into a blueprint for what you want. Lots of people say they want to be happy, but if you ask them to define that, few could really answer. Make yourself and your goal a priority. Changing your mindset is the first step to changing your life, your circumstances and the results of effort.
Commitment and Motivation
Those two words are the secret of success. How you define success is determined by your mindset. Only you can decide what you want and how to get it. Will you encounter frustration, false starts, and failure? Absolutely. But how you respond to those is governed by your MINDSET. A healthy mindset says, keep going no matter what happens, keep at it even when you're discouraged, keep fighting for your dream even when no one else believes in it but you. Once you make a commitment, the motivation will follow naturally and amazing things will happen. A positive mindset will serve you well on your journey to a fulfilling life. Put a productive spin on your own brain, fashion your mindset to suit your purposes and results.
